Calvin Morgan - ATL SWEAT

Calvin Morgan, is a Detroit, Mich native influenced by the soulful sounds that were known to come out of Motown. DJing started for me at the not so early age of 18 back in 1980. I was drawn to the Turntables by the music, the infectious beats that were played by the likes of Ken Collier and Delano Smith. Often found on the Dancefloors of the Downstairs Pub and Detroit's Studio 54 or L'Uomo, I knew that behind the decks was where I had to be.

A freshman at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich. I joined with Hamilton Murray and several other Detroit natives to form a branch of Direct Drive. Known throughout Detroit as one of the best DJ crews, Direct Drive was also a welcomed addition in the Kalamazoo area. I began doing the college circuit, Michigan State, University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan as well as WMU. A name was made and a following built, any party that we'd do was guaranteed a hit. Upon returning to Detroit, I had the chance to play at the some of the clubs where I had been known for dancing the night away. The Downstairs Pub, L'Uomo, The Y and numerous backyard summer House parties. It was at these events I was able to fine tune my music and mixing skills, keeping in line with those who influenced me, I knew I had to bring it.

Being frustrated with the rate of pay for DJs and deciding to take a personal break to explore other avenues, I relocated to Atlanta, Ga. Here in Atlanta,I found the music scene slow, not very open to the style of music that I grew up with and LOVED. I knew I wanted to DJ, so I had to adapt, picking up on the R&B, Reggae, Miami Booty Shake and Rap, the public had no idea of what was to come. I have been working the Mobile circuit as well as providing sound and lighting for numerous events over the years in the Atlanta area. The last few years, do to my continued devotion and love for HOUSE Music, I've been blessed with several European and National gigs. Ibiza, Zurich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, back home in Detroit, San Juan Puerto Rico, Cincinatti, Ohio Chicago, Illinois Jacksonville, Florida and Charleston South Carolina.

Currently Calvin promotes SWEAT events throughout the house nation.
