Naeem Johnson - Brick City DJ Native
This Newark native has under his belt over twenty years of DJing experience and has been a mainstay at such legendary venues in New Jersey as Club Docks, Club Zanzibar, Cheetah, Club America, Club 88, Club Blackbox and Mirage. Na'eem also has been invited to play at such landmark NYC nightclubs as Club Shelter, the infamous Studio 54, Club 1018 and Kilimanjaro. He was among the first wave of NJ/NYC DJ's to travel overseas, playing at Club Yellow, The Garden and the Cave in Japan; as well as, the Redzone, Angels Of Love, Club East Side and the Horus Club in Italy. Na'eem served as music consultant on NYC's number one radio station WBLS-FM, a division of the Inner City Broadcasting Corporation. While there, he was showcased on the highly popular "Saturday Night Dance Party" mix show and the "Midday Lunch Mix". Working specifically with such noted radio personalities as B.K. Kirkland, Fred Buggs and the influential, DJ Timmy Regisford, served to enhance Na'eem's skill at programming music. He also was a frequent guest on another popular radio program� The DJ Disciple Show" that broadcasted on NYC's 91.5 FM Mercer College station. Taking a stab a music production, Na'eem left the dance music world with his "signature" on the very successful dance hit "Get Blacker" dedicated to his then resident venue, Club Blackbox. His other remix production credits include "Blind" by Nick Jones on the Friendly EP, "Family" by Sounds of Perfection feat.Lem Blackwell on The House Music of New York/Club Tracks Vol II released in Japan. At present, Na'eem holds down the fort to a packed audience once a month at Newark NJ's Axiom Studios. He was asked to return to Italy after a three year hiatus and welcomed with open arms at the Cantina, a haven for underground dance music fans located in Perugia.
