Adina Nyree, Certified Organic
Adina Nyree is a poet/songstress who grew up in The Bronx and New Rochelle, NY. She began writing poems at the age of 7, culminating into a performance career beginning in 2003 reading and performing her poetry. After spending a few years on the national poetry slam circuit, followed by additional years performing on the road in the stage show Drumadics: The Theatrical Experience, Adina Nyree decided to fuse her three loves - philosophy, poetry, and music - into Certified Organic, her solo debut album. Certified Organic portrays the consciousness of the world around and inside Adina Nyree. The album is a crossroads of Spoken Word... meets Soul... meets Jazz... meets Blues. Certified Organic, grown out of the nutrient rich soil of understanding, love and hope, provides fertile ground for Adina Nyree's sound to penetrate the listener, intertwining with mind, body and soul. As a poet, Adina Nyree gained recognition while touring as a member of the Boston Lizard Lounge 2004 and 2005 National Slam Teams. She has been featured at such venues as Simmons College Black Women's Symposium and Women's Month Poetry Jam, United Nation's Church Center-Children's Rights Declaration Forum, Brockton Public Library Poetry Series, as well as numerous churches, urban youth programs and elementary schools around the nation.
