DJ Hektek, DJ/Producer from the Bonx, NY



Hector Torres, better known as DJ HekTek, is an up and coming international DJ/Audio Technician/Producer from The Bronx, New York City, USA. DJ HekTek started out as a DJ in the mid 1990's playing music at local neighborhood parties throughout the New York City area. He first showcased his talent outside of New York City in the spring of 1997 on a local FM radio station 91.7fm WJHH (Hoodstock Radio) in Miami, Florida.

In 1997 DJ HekTek met the Amen-Ra of Hip Hop Culture Afrika Bambaataa. Who is also known as the God-Father of Hip Hop culture a pioneer of Electro Funk music and founder of the Universal Zulu Nation. After demonstrating his turntable skills, DJ HekTek was offered the opportunity to travel with Afrika Bambaataa. This turning point led to appearances at various well known nightclubs across the United States. In 1999 DJ HekTek began touring overseas throughout Europe, and earning international exposure from audiences around the globe. In 2004, he produced songs for Afrika Bambaataa's Album "Dark Matter Moving at the Speed of Light" (Tommy Boy Records), BronxMob "The BronxMob Album" (Blunt Squad Recordings) and other local talent.

In 2005 DJ HekTek could frequently be heard playing all styles of music on "True School Radio Show" on CCNY's WHCR 90.3 FM in Harlem, NYC on Tuesdays 8pm-12am EST, in addition to the "Blunt Squad Radio Show" that streamed live on the internet with over thousands of listeners. In 2006 he made a brief appearance in the movie "Fighting" as a gang member chasing Actor Terrence Howard's character out of a bodega. Spring of 2007 DJ HekTek went on tour with his group The BronxMob to Asia performing at clubs in Tokyo and Saitima, Japan. On the return to the USA, DJ HekTek continued to work on producing more music for many local and underground artists. In 2010 DJ HekTek returned to FM, internet radio, and released several Hip Hop mix-tapes online. DJ HekTek continues to tour overseas in Europe and the U.K, spinning records alongside the Amen-Ra of Hip Hop Culture. In 2011, (DJ) HekTek went on a short DJ tour in France and in the U.S.A. DJ HekTek can also be seen making brief appearances on upcoming TV shows and Movies.
